Introduction of common types of rolling mills
Currently in the market, there are many types of rolling mills, which can generally be divided according to the arrangement and number of rolls. Among them, there is a two-roll mill with a relatively simple structure and a wide range of applications, which can be further divided into reversible and irreversible.
In comparison, the diameter of the work rolls of the four-roll mill is smaller, which transmits the rolling moment, and the rolling pressure is borne by the backup rolls with larger diameters. The main advantages of this type of equipment are relatively large relative stiffness, large reduction, small rolling force, and can roll thinner plates, including reversible and continuous rolling.
The five-roller includes two structural forms, one is a contact-bending-straightening mill. The equipment is actually a four-high rolling mill with small-diameter idle rolls that bend the rolling stock, and its reduction is many times larger than that of ordinary rolling mills. The rolling stock undergoes plastic bending deformation around the small idle roller, which can roll hard-to-deform metal and alloy strips.
Another type of equipment is often used for rolling stainless steel, carbon steel and non-ferrous metal strips with very small thickness tolerances, in which the position of the small middle roll can be adjusted along the entry or exit direction of the rolling mill to maintain the correct thickness of the rolled piece.
In contrast, the HC type is a rolling mill that can control the crown of the roll. It can also be regarded as a device that adds a pair of axially movable intermediate rolls between the work rolls and backup rolls of a four-high mill. The equipment is generally used for cold rolled wide steel.
In addition to this, there is also a more popular equipment called eccentric eight-high rolling mill. The diameter of the work roll of this equipment is 1/6 of the backup roll, and the relative offset is made to prevent the horizontal bending of the work roll. The work rolls of this rolling mill have good stability and high horizontal stiffness, and are used for cold rolling of hard-to-deform steel, silicon steel and non-ferrous metal strips.
